The MY.ICT Project once again delivered a transformative digital literacy experience as it successfully conducted its latest extension training session, empowering participants with practical skills in Google Suites. The activity opened on an uplifting note with an inspirational message from Mary Jane G. Zozobrado, whose heartfelt words emphasized the importance of embracing lifelong learning and leveraging technology as a tool for personal and community advancement. Her message set an encouraging atmosphere, fostering excitement and confidence among the participants even before the training began.
The focal point of the second session was the comprehensive introduction and hands-on exploration of Google Docs and Google Spreadsheets—two foundational tools in the Google Suites ecosystem. The trainers guided participants through various features, from basic formatting and document creation to more advanced spreadsheet functions and collaborative tools. Their expertise ensured that participants not only understood how these applications work but also recognized their practical advantages in improving workflow, organization, and productivity in both academic and professional environments.
What made the workshop especially effective was its interactive, learner-centered approach. Participants were encouraged to immediately apply the concepts discussed through structured exercises and real-world tasks. Working in teams, they exchanged strategies, experimented with formatting options, created tables and charts, and explored collaborative editing features. This peer-learning environment allowed participants to support one another, ask questions freely, and build confidence as they navigated each activity. Trainers remained actively engaged throughout the session, offering individualized assistance and ensuring that no participant was left behind.
The output produced during the workshop showcased the participants’ growing proficiency. Many were able to generate professional-quality documents and spreadsheets, reflecting both creativity and technical skill. Their work demonstrated not only comprehension but also a willingness to explore and innovate. The positive remarks from the trainers affirmed their progress and inspired them to continue enhancing their ICT capabilities.
Beyond technical skill-building, the session strengthened participants’ appreciation for digital tools as essential resources in today’s rapidly evolving world. For many, the training served as an eye-opener—proof that with the right support and guidance, they could confidently engage with technology and use it to elevate their personal and professional lives. Participants also shared feedback and reflections through Padlet, expressing appreciation for the meaningful and eye-opening learning experience.
In the end, the MY.ICT Project extension activity was more than just a training session; it was a meaningful and empowering experience that blended expert instruction, practical application, and a strong sense of community. Participants left the activity not only with new skills but also with a renewed determination to pursue digital literacy, knowing that they are fully capable of learning, adapting, and thriving in an increasingly digital society.
