The MY.ICT Extension Project continued its impactful mission of building digital confidence and competence among marginalized youth through an inspiring and hands-on workshop on Google Sites, held on August 19, 2023. This session opened a world of creative and entrepreneurial possibilities, giving participants the opportunity to design their own websites—platforms where ideas, aspirations, and innovations could take digital form. In today’s digitally driven world, the ability to communicate and express oneself online has become an essential skill, and the MY.ICT Project ensured that participants were equipped to harness this power.
One of the most memorable highlights of the workshop was the group website-building activity, where participants collaborated to create websites for their proposed businesses. This activity extended beyond the technicalities of Google Sites; it served as an exercise in teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving. Participants learned how to translate concepts into compelling digital pages, structuring content, integrating multimedia elements, and presenting information in ways that would appeal to potential audiences. The process demonstrated that web design is both a technical skill and a collaborative art, reinforcing the value of teamwork in turning visions into reality.
As participants worked passionately on their websites, a healthy sense of friendly competition emerged. The session culminated in the recognition of the group that produced the most outstanding website—an acknowledgment that highlighted the project’s commitment to celebrating excellence, innovation, and dedication. This recognition not only rewarded the group's effort but also inspired others to aim higher and continue honing their newly acquired skills.
Certificates were awarded to all participants, marking the completion of their training journey. These certificates symbolized more than participation—they represented growth, resilience, and the acquisition of relevant digital skills that can open doors to future opportunities. For many of the youth, the certificate served as a tangible testament to their ability to learn, adapt, and create in the digital age.
At its core, the MY.ICT Extension Project is dedicated to empowering marginalized youth, bridging digital gaps, and nurturing the next generation of creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Through platforms like Google Sites, the project provides more than technical training—it cultivates self-expression, encourages critical thinking, and ignites entrepreneurial potential. As the project continues to unfold, its impact will undoubtedly ripple outward, strengthening not only the participants but also the communities they will uplift and inspire.
With each session, the MY.ICT Project reaffirms its mission: to create a more inclusive, digitally empowered future where every young person has the tools, confidence, and opportunity to thrive.
