MY.ICT for Marginalized Youth Strengthens Entrepreneurial Skills Through Pitch Deck Development Workshop
📅 November 19, 2023
The MY.ICT for Marginalized Youth initiative reached another meaningful milestone on November 18, 2023, with a dynamic and empowering workshop focused on one of the most essential entrepreneurial skills today—crafting and delivering effective pitch decks. Led by resource speaker Ma. Katrina Labucana, the session provided participants with a comprehensive introduction to the art of pitching, covering key components such as elevator pitches, pitch deck structure, verbal communication techniques, and strategies for delivering persuasive and impactful presentations.
The workshop was intentionally designed to be highly interactive and hands-on, allowing participants not only to learn the theoretical foundations of pitching but also to apply them in real time. Working collaboratively in groups, participants were guided through the full process of developing their own pitch decks. They explored the core elements of a compelling pitch—crafting a strong narrative, articulating a clear value proposition, understanding market opportunities, identifying target customers, and presenting feasible financial projections. This practical approach helped demystify the pitch deck creation process and equipped participants with tools they can use for future entrepreneurial ventures.
A highlight of the session was the pitch presentation activity, where participants showcased their pitch decks before their peers and the facilitators. This segment provided an invaluable learning experience as groups received constructive feedback aimed at enhancing the clarity, coherence, persuasiveness, and visual impact of their presentations. The feedback session nurtured confidence and encouraged participants to refine their ideas, improve delivery techniques, and further strengthen their entrepreneurial mindset.
The workshop concluded with the formal acknowledgment of Ma. Katrina Labucana for her expertise and invaluable contribution to the training. Certificates of participation were also awarded to all participants, signifying not just attendance but their commitment to developing essential skills for personal and professional growth. Participants expressed their appreciation and reflections through Padlet, highlighting how the session broadened their understanding of entrepreneurship, communication, and strategic thinking.
Overall, the MY.ICT initiative continues to empower marginalized youth by providing transformative learning experiences that build confidence, foster innovation, and cultivate essential skills for navigating the digital and entrepreneurial landscape. The pitch deck workshop stands as a testament to the initiative’s mission to equip youth with opportunities that ignite potential and pave the way for future success.
