College of Computer Studies, Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology hosted a benchmarking visit from the City College of El Salvador on January 15, 2026. The visit focused on the Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science (CS) programs, highlighting academic, administrative, and community-oriented best practices.
The delegation was formally welcomed by Atty. Eddie Bouy P. Palad, Dean of the College of Computer Studies, who presented an overview of the College’s administrative framework and key initiatives supporting instruction, research, extension, and innovation.
Academic discussions were led by Asst. Prof. Jerame Beloy, Chairperson of the Information Technology program, and Asst. Prof. Liezel Daberao, Chairperson of the Computer Science program. They shared best practices in curriculum development, outcomes-based education, and industry-aligned instruction.
Dr. Rabby Lavilles, Director of the Center for Policy and Innovation (CPI), provided insights on developing academic programs that are responsive to community needs, particularly in identifying programs best suited to the context of El Salvador City. He also shared perspectives on pedagogical initiatives and sustainable program development.
The benchmarking visit also highlighted the best practices of the Center for Advanced Education and Lifelong Learning (CAELL). Assoc. Prof. Alquine Taculin, CAELL Director and CCS Graduate Coordinator, discussed flexible learning pathways, lifelong learning initiatives, and shared key information regarding the College’s graduate programs. In relation to extension services, Asst. Prof. Paul B. Bokingkito Jr., CCS Extension Coordinator, provided inputs to the program chairpersons on extension-related initiatives and community engagement strategies.

The benchmarking activity aimed to foster academic and administrative collaboration between MSU-IIT and the City College of El Salvador and explored opportunities for future partnerships, including the potential signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The visit highlighted both institutions’ shared commitment to quality education, innovation, and community-responsive programs.
